Lee Lake Field Trip, October 10 2020
Directions to Lee Lake (Bartlesville): From the south (Tulsa etc) north on highway 75 and go west on Adams Blvd. (60-W). The entrance to the park is 0.7 mile west of highway 75. There’s a traffic light (Lake Village Trail) that accesses parking for the soccer fields, which may be busy Saturday morning. We recommend taking the next turn (or jog left off LVT) and park nearer the Lake. We’ll be waiting for you all in the parking lot at Lee Lake! Look for a bright blue RAV4.
The trees of interest are at the east end of Lee Lake, a couple cityblocksworth walk on a paved trail. Leashed dogs are welcome on the lake trail. There is also a nice dog park. Lunch? Frank Phillips Blvd has an assortment of drive-through chains. Also Dinks Barbecue (the best in Oklahoma): call 918-335-0606 to order for pickup. Sooner Park (NE corner of map) has picnic tables, shelters, and rest rooms. Of additional interest: native plantings around the Bartlesville Public Library and Price Tower Center at Unity Square, both on Adams Blvd downtown. NOTE: Gordon wants to send everyone home with some cacti! He has potted up dozens of his offspring (not native alas, but many bloom wonderfully) and will bring them in the trunk. |
