Annual Meeting Information

​The Oklahoma Native Plant Society is hosting its Meeting at the Environmental Education Center of the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge on October 7-9.  Advanced registration is closed.  Onsite registration will be available at the event.
Tentative Schedule of Events
Friday, October 7
3:00 pm – Meet outside the Medicine Park Aquarium & Natural Sciences Center to enjoy the view and look at native plants on the hillside.
5:00 pm – Cocktail hour at the Old Plantation Tap Room in Medicine Park (buy your own).
6:00 pm – Dinner at the Old Plantation (click here for menu and prices)
 
Saturday, October 8
8:30 am – Registration at Environmental Education Center (EEC) in WMWR (see map)
9:15 am – Introductions
9:30 am – Break out sessions (choose one of the following)
1) Creek walk to look at ferns (moderate walk on rough ground)
2) Trees (and other things) around the EEC (easy walk on good trails)
11:30 am – Sandwich lunch (provided)
12:30 pm – Maintaining The Health Of The Mixed Grass Prairie by D’Anna Laminack, Environmental Education Specialists at WMWR.
2:00 pm – Annual Business Meeting
3:30 pm – Board Meeting
5:45 pm – Banquet at Medicine Park Community Center.  Banquet speaker David Redhage, Program Officer at Kerr Center for Sustainable Agriculture.  Talk titled Pollinators and Native Plants.
 
Sunday, October 9
8:15 am – Board Meeting (continued) at Medicine Park Aquarium & Natural Sciences Center.
9:30 am – Guided hike to “The Narrows” by a member of the Friends of the Wichitas.  Meet at WMWR Visitors Center.  Easy to moderate, 1-2 hour hike on rough ground.

Lake Lawtonka (from $13.00 per night). 25 minute drive to EEC and 5 minute drive to Medicine Park. No reservations (first come).
